The Post-Meridian Radio Players are seeking directors for our upcoming Halloween show, Tomes of Terror: Beyond Grimm. This year’s festival features a quartet of eerie and terrifying folktales from all over the world. We’re seeking directors (and potentially assistant directors) for the following two plays:
The Myling — One of the most menacing ghost stories in Scandinavian folklore concerns the Myling. These troublesome tales reflect the real – and often taboo - issue of child abandonment and infanticide as a result of medieval poverty; and which remain a source of national angst to this day.
A Hare-Raising Tale — In this Irish folk tale, a gambler swears he’ll play cards with anyone, any time. But when he meets a giant hare on his way home one night, he should be careful not to bet more than he can afford to lose...

If you'd like to apply, please send us the following:
- Your theatrical experience, directorial and otherwise. Résumés preferred, bulleted lists accepted. Audio drama experience a plus; first-time directors welcome!
- Your availability from August thru October.
- Which shows you'd be interested in directing.
- 1-2 paragraphs for each show you're applying to direct outlining your directorial vision. We're open to however you want to express your interest, but we're especially interested in why you feel that story is important and why you should be the one to guide it. We'd also like to get a sense for how you anticipate building relationships with your actors, should you be chosen.
Compensation: This is not a paid position; however, you will get free admission to all performances of the show, one comp ticket, concessions discount, the chance to work in the medium of live audio drama on exciting material.
Expectations: We expect that you'll be at every rehearsal for your show, ready to work with actors, Foley, and designers in an efficient and professional manner. Our rehearsal schedules tend to be lighter than other theatre groups, but we ask that your commitment be of high priority. Putting on a great production is important to us, and we need it to be important to you, too.
All materials should be sent by Friday, August 2nd, 2019 to Michael Lin ([email protected]) & Jamie Lin ([email protected]) with your name and "PMRP Halloween Director Application" in the subject line.
